UPS gets a huge contract increase for their drivers, now they over promise
...and under deliver. Typical of overpaid workers...lol Yes, they said my package would be delivered by 7pm last night...even when I kept checking at 9pm, 10pm, etc....still delivery by 7 pm. Today they're saying it will be delivered by 7pm tonight. Fingers crossed it makes it here today, but the last reported location of my package was leaving Portland 4 days ago.

This isn’t new and certainly nothing to do with new contract.
Logistics for all of them have been a mess for a while. I’m not sure why any of them give expected delivery dates anymore.

You do know this is the Lounge
And that was a semi-TIC post...
vthokieq vthokieq
Yes…and I’ve been on the Lounge often the past few years…
…what once could easily be assumed as TIC can no longer, especially with particular posters. 😉

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make ‘em drink.

The joke's on them
Service schmervis. I hope UPS drivers are socking away their savings. Among the first to go when our robot overlords begin their takeover will be contract drivers.

Everyone is leaving Portland. So, obviously caught in traffic,

Average Annual Beer Truck Driver Salary is
$50 - $60,000. How is UPS driver salary worth $170,000??! Cold beer is far more critical than UPS mail.

The $170K figure is what full time drivers will average 5 years from now
In pay and benefits (health insurance and pension). If health insurance is worth $2000 monthly and pension is $1000 monthly, pay would be about $135K annually. And I’m guessing that’s with OT baked in. It’s good money, but those drivers have and will continue to earn it. They are held to extremely high productivity standards. Majority of the UPS employees in the bargaining unit are part timers. They will make a minimum of $21 per hour plus benefits when the contract takes effect.

Read somewhere the base pay under this negotiation will be $92K.
And you're correct that $170k is the up to figure that includes your benefits which is 25% to 35%.

National average police officer salary is $50-60K. Teacher, military, all s
Similar. To me, UPS driver doesn’t equate to any of those, and none will be over $100K 10 years from now. I appreciate your identifying the ups value, but how does that equal to value above all of the rest?

There is a shortage of Class A (tractor trailer) and Class B (box truck)
drivers. I work for a company that employs a lot of Class A drivers. Wages for most are right around $30/hour and a lot are eclipsing $100K with overtime. None of that justifies paying cops, teachers and military $50-$60k, but there is a pathway to much higher pay if they’re willing to get a Class A or B commercial drivers license.

Don’t want to annoy, but I see your Class A / B and raise you RN / NP avgs
Shortages in all of these: Licensed Practical and Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) $48,500 Registered Nurse (RN) $77,460 Nurse Practitioners (NP) $111,840 I still don’t see the critical need factor comparing to $170 in 5 years. Maybe the above can see some equity through other benefits or something, but I see UPS result more as union blackmail. I guess nurses can blackmail, too. CA hotel workers are blackmailing hotels into hiring illegals. I just don’t get any of this.

More physical, too. Lifting & stacking beer all day has to be a workout.

Wonder if Antifa helped themselves to the cargo...
...since they have the "green light" to commit any crime in the city.
