If we're true to the real intent of the category I will go with Clapton . Others: Diana Ross Teddy Pendergrass (was in Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes) Can Don Henley and/or Glenn Fry qualify for being in Linda Ronstadt's band? Might technically include Neil Young - who sort of went in and out of solo artist/group mode.
