I would bet that the SEC and the BIG look to make some amendments to their
bylaws that will essentially tell these remora fish schools to sack up, invest and stop being doormats or be expelled from the conference for something better. SEC needs a 3/4 vote. at 14 schools, that meant 11 votes which would mean that Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and one of Arkansas, Mississippi State, or Missouri could effectively block things.
At 16 schools, all that is needed is 12 schools. Clearly Texas and Oklahoma would side with the majority. Their additions make it much, much easier for the SEC to create bylaws that would allow them to expel deadweight without legal ramifications. I suspect that Vanderbilt, Kentucky, et al are seeing the proverbial shot across the bow to invest heavily in their football programs.
