A discovery we made yesterday. Frosting that you get from the grocery
store (ie, Betty Hines, Duncan Crocker) probably DOESN'T truly expire and become dangerous, BUT it DOES eventually start to taste like the packaging instead of the flavor you bought.
And similarly, a cake mix is a dry good, so it too likely doesn't become unsafe, but the expiration date on the box does give a guideline on when the flavor will start to wane.
