Went through the same thing a few months ago. Car was scratched in parking
Lot leaving a scratch down the two doors and rear. Quote was for around $3,000. I was concerned about my monthly rate going up if I went through insurance. However since it was not our fault I just had to pay my $250 deductible and rate would not change.
Check with your insurance and then decide. Is it worth fixing if your insurance goes up? How much will it cost to fix if you just pay without insurance? Those are things to think about.
I was shocked when I got quotes for repairs. I thought it was just a scratch repair…but it was deep down to the metal and indented. To repair they had to remove the entire door panels so that the paint would match as well as the rear fender. I got quotes from some places up to $6500.

Reminds me of an old Bruce Springsteen monologue about Earl Scheib.
