However, I think the environmental and economic realities are glossed over ignored for electric cars. Yes, gains are made in lower emissions once developed. But the mining process to collect battery materials is horrendous. Second, compounds like lithium mostly come from hostile countries. Third what happens to the batteries, windmills and solar panels is an environmental nightmare. Fourth, the economic cost of building the electric charging network is enormous. I fully support technology and a clean environment. But the reality is we can power the world on coal and oil for another hundred years. Electric cars are the future, but it’s 50-year future, not a ten year one
