I have lived and worked out west (still work) for a number of years and…

…my work/educational experience involves geology, hydrology, climatology, natural resource management, pumps and dewatering systems, and permitting on the local, state, and federal levels. I don’t need the talking heads on any media format to tell me what opinions I should have. I have had the misery of dealing with agencies out west and it’s downright awful to get anything productive done. I have seen and experienced the stupidity first hand. Frankly most states and municipalities poorly manage their resources, it’s just more critical in the western states while waste and poor management is easier to hide in the east. The problems are with leadership. The people on the front lines and in the field offices know what needs to be done but they receive guidance and direction from the bureaucrats. I know, I’ve sat in their offices and talked with them. There are good people out West and good people trying to do the right thing, the smart thing. Unfortunately we don’t run under common sense anymore but under the bureaucracy of poor leaders. There is a lot of fault to go around right now in California and this has been coming for a long time. And guess what, it will happen again.
