My aunt and cousins live there. That's not he feeling the natives have

there. The on the ground feeling is Xi has been consolidating power for years and through his purges has eliminated any opposition within the party. He stands alone and has focused on reclaiming Hong Kong fully. Once that's complete, there is big concern he turns his sights on Taiwan. One of my cousins who has dual citizenship with Taiwan and USA just moved to the USA with her husband on the primary fear of China invading. My American aunt is looking to move back with that being one of the reasons. Taiwan has been her home for 30+ years. According to my Aunt, the previous USA administration seemed to accelerate the idea of China invading because of a perceived belief of friendliness towards the Chinese regime. She said it was also a general belief of the Taiwanese populace that the USA had agreed to let China take Taiwan and that led to a lot of public unrest(and my cousin moving back over) etc. Just one anecdote but she's lived there her entire adult life after college. ** Edited by ElbertoHokie at 7/26/2022, 3:31:03 PM
