Our high school will likely get rid of the award in next year or 2….

Movement on school board to eliminate both the award and class ranking as it is supposedly contrary to the concept of equity and causes kids to feel bad when they know that others are doing better. Some schools have eliminated the award due to rampant grade inflation and having 20+ kids tied for 1st. That is not an issue at our school which is fairly small. Only one #1. For point of reference, 4.76 weighted GPA and 4.0 unweighted. ** Edited by CrystalCoveHokie at 1/18/2026, 12:58:23 PM
