As a heads up, USAA is notorious for pushing you Very hard to go against
the other driver’s carrier. Which is fine, If the other carrier agrees they are liable and they are prompt to assuming responsibility.
Keep in mind they only owe the actual cash value (depreciated) of your damages. And that may vary from what you/USAA feel is owed. Also if rental is owed if in shop for any period of time. (These days, shop times can be lengthy)
Now you would not have a deductible going through the other carrier.
Just keep in mind, if the other guy waffles, and things seem to drag on, you can demand USAA take care of you. As they are your carrier.
You will get your deductible returned to you once USAA recovers (subrogates) from the other guy’s insurer.

Yes if you file on your own policy, Collision coverage will be used to pay
