There is a time to buy and a time to sell.

And this can be timed. In 2019 the market absolutely overcooked and I sold every share I owned in November. The best move I ever made. 4 months later Covid-19 drove travel stocks down 50%. This made no sense in the long term as the virus, like any virus, is a temporary situation so the day Disney closed it's parks and we were all sent home I used that cash to buy the stocks that were the most hammered, and made a 50% return in one year. You can't do that by holding stocks, you must have enough cash to strike when opportunity presents itself. Obviously Covid was a unique situation but 2019 was not the first time I sold ever stock I owned and pounced later for huge gains. Having said that, I freely admit I don't understand what is going on in today's market and have no firm strategy at this time. I'm pondering selling Apple before their earnings report which I predict will disappoint. Selling Apple was unthinkable a year ago. I figured I'd hold it forever, but not so much anymore.
