if he plays up to all star level he would most likely walk. this gets them 3 more years. Shows Skene's they're serious and gives them flexibility to sign him because if he is performing, he is there on the cheap. Most kids would not turn down 140, its forces the prospect to make a choice, because you never know what could happen. its a win win for both sides. skene's probabyl going to be 50 million a year so i think overall this was a good move by the pirates.
