compared to tanks back when I last looked at it. I don't remember the numbers, but I love the idea of tankless, and I know that it works, and can work for larger households even. But I'm ultimately numbers driven. The tankless was $X more expensive than the tank (expected, no problem), but was projected to save $Y, over 7 years, on my water heating expense. X was greater than Y. I'd spend more upfront (and at that time, it was a LOT more) than I'd save in that timeframe. Note that this was long enough ago so that the prices of the tankless in comparison may have gotten closer, and perhaps efficiency has improved so it WOULD make sense now, but it didn't 18 or so years ago, nor 8 ish. ** Edited by Late 80s Hokie at 2/5/2025, 10:48:40 AM
