I'd be really interested in hearing what the locker room feels about Monty
He seems like he's ready to move on to a new job as a HC, but I'd like to see him do something within VT. From the outside appears to be a genuine guy and really cares for the group. As much as football is a transactional game these days, he would be a great addition to the culture.

A bunch of jobs are currently open, those jobs being filled will create new openings, rinse and repeat.

maybe stop at the whistle echo.... but whatever. BEAT THE HOOS- hopefully he ends up somewhere good- probably will get another chance based on how the team has played for him during this season after it was over - that's a talent

Or does he find a coordinator position at a P4? Or could he be a fill in at somewhere like GT or Lville in case those coaches bounce?

TSaid players are going out of their way to praise him for how he's held the team together. As bad as this team is, they have not quit or mailed it in at all. That says a lot about Monty. He does look done, though. Been a tough season. He's taken on far more than he expected to. He deserves a look somewhere. He's just gotten to a point to where this team is what it is. Run game has gotten better, but they just can't pass. The defense can't get out of its own way and will not be better no matter what. I hope VT does something for him. You'd think taking over as HS would have some kind of $$$ attached to it.

they don’t see that possibility here they will try somewhere else. I’m sure they will get an honest assessment from Franklin and his new staff and act accordingly.

difficult for Franklin & Co. to give them an honest assessment. Particularly if they don't have a lot of film or practice time to base it on. It may be relevant because I think the new rules require VT to report its roster for next season by a certain date in December. If a players name isn't listed on the roster, then I think they can't get access to any NIL money or participate in any team activities. Also, it isn't clear to me if schools can amend their roster after the deadline and what steps need to be taken to achieve it.

I wonder if he really felt like they were going to be able to turn it around this year. Portal defections really sank this team. Losing Chaplin and Moore was unrecoverable on the OL. That he took and even more depleted team after Pry left and had them playing hard the whole way says a lot. I'm sure he's emotionally drained, and now he needs a job again.

No real P4 passing QB nor an OL that can pass protect. He does not have the personnel to run the offense he was brought here to run. Imagine going from the shiRt show under Hugh Freeze to a year in the pro minors to this hopeless situation. He's been super upbeat until after the last game. If we can get out of the uva game only losing 34-17, I'd take it.

Given that UVa has only won 2 games against us this century, I’d expect they won’t hesitate to run it up if it goes sideways.

And I hope Coach Franklin takes it personally and returns the favor. I would expect a nearly full reboot next year for VT. We'll see if this is a one-and-done for uva. They are going to have to replace Morris, and Kaelin is not it. I think a lot of their portal players are grad students. Maybe we keep it competitive. If we somehow win this one, they need to just shutter the football program and put the money toward something else.

probably will need to run up the score to show the Committee that they are more than just being the Cardiac Cavs.

They have to win the ACCCG. Have you kept up with the playoff ranking?

could be upsets and/or teams ranked ahead of UVA (i.e. Michigan and Vandy) who lose this weekend which should allow UVA to keep moving up the poll. Now UVA probably will still need to win the ACC to get in, but there may be a scenario where there is a 3-way tie and UVA ends up being the odd man out of the ACCG. If that were to happen, then there may be scenario where UVA could still back its way in as an at-large team. Particularly if the other CCGs eliminate teams from consideration.

Pittsburgh's not getting the total crappy weather we are getting in NW PA, but it's going to be probably 30 at game time and windy. Not going to be shocked if Pittsburgh doesn't pull this one out then turns around and beats uva in Charlotte.
BTW going to get gales across the lake the next few days - going to drop the water level on the W end of the lake 6 feet and push it up 6 for so from Erie to Buffalo.

the following:
UVA 6-1
Pitt 6-1
SMU 6-1
GT 6-2
Miami 5-2
Duke 5-2
If SMU beats Cal and Miami beats Pitt, then SMU should be playing UVA in Charlotte next weekend. Now if UVA, Pitt, and SMU lose and Miami and Duke both win, then the ACC should send all 7 teams to Charlotte and let them have a good ole fashion street rumble to see who ends up with the championship.

I think the record vs common opponent gets pretty wild if SMU and Pitt win this weekend. I'm hoping for absolute chaos.

blowouts, in addition the chaos within the ACC. Basically I want to force the Committee to really shake up the poll going into Championship Weekend so it is next to impossible to vote a team that lost back into the field unless there is an obvious fix or blatant bias in favor of certain teams. Basically I am hoping that this year the FBS Playoffs has its version of what the BCS had when Alabama and LSU played each other in a rematch in the national championship game.
