Everyone keeps saying Franklin would be a good hire for VT. Would it be a
good decision for Franklin? I 100% agree Franklin would be a great hire. Most importantly he helps move the financial needle on the $$ VT needs. Why would he take the job though? Does Franklin not think his reputation is tarnished with the can’t win the big game criticism? What job does he think he can get that’s better than VT? ** Edited by 97Hokie at 11/16/2025, 2:00:43 PM

Reading these types of posts shows The damage Whit has done to the VT brand
VT can’t simply be good enough. ** Edited by GoldCoast at 11/16/2025, 7:13:09 PM

A twenty year career and a statue.
If he can win 8-10 games a year.

With the money and Pry vouching for VT I think JF can see a path to early
Success with transfers. He just needs a qb. Hes a fantastic coach

Honestly? I think his rep is a bit tarnished
Whether or not I agree with his firing, I think the repeated criticism that he can't win big with this bad year kind of kills his big school reputation. So he's going to rebuild himself by making us perennial winners (please God)

You do realize he was in the playoffs last year & DOMINATED a good SMU team

I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying that's public perception

He won two playoff games last year.
But those aren’t big games. I guess.

Yeah but
The roar of the masses could be farts. I have seen people on other sites still wanting Vick as coach so people are clueless

💯 He was asking if it would be good for JF to go to VT
I think yes so he can prove once again he's a winner, silencing the crowd that thinks he can't win or is a bad person or whatever narrative I personally don't think PSU should have fired him

Yes
We offer the best fit of any avaliable job for what he says his goals are. Relatively easy path to the playoffs compared to sec or B1G schools. Smack dab in the middle of his prime recruiting area. Keep fairly close to family he has at Penn st. Also just not too far of a move and to a fairly similar area to what he and his family are used to.

Not really, but he may not have the option to wait for the best available
Job. Clearly Tech admin is forcing JF to commit before FSU job opens.

Ah
If this gets done. Which seems soon. The man wanted VT. Why? National media types have hinted for weeks. Throw in the fact VT seemingly changing their resources. Reason for delay is as much him getting what he desires from VT. Psu and VT lawyers . Getting it right with family. Did he keep options open if VT was a no. Prob so. Was FSU one? Maybe but I doubt. Why? Simply put it’s a dumpster fire of leadership. They beat a half roster VT team . Like you guys will bin two weeks. Enjoy.

I didnt mean my comment as disparaging toward tech.
Simply that it was reported that he was interested if it were to open. FSU has more resources and have recruited the tidewater well in the past - plus Florida is a hot bed for recruits as well. Btw, I expect Tech to play its best game of the year against us.

1. Fsu may not even open
2. Fsu wouldnt be smack dab in the middle of his traditional recruiting territory, it wouldn't be close to family and friends at penn st, and the area isnt similar to what his family is used to now. These things dont mean that he wouldn't be interested in fsu, as its the higher profile job.
