but to change the old Mike Tyson quote, Everybody wants it until they get punched in the mouth. I actually think it was kind of like VT vs Louisville after 2 of 3 possessions of being a punching bag, like Cc said on the podcast today, teams check out mentally then physically.
Put another way VT vs Louisville and UVA vs VT quickly turned to a "who farted look" which was they had nothing to match or complete with.

We finished 6-6. We're an average team that stomps bad teams and loses to good teams.
UVA finished 3-9. They are terrible. No two ways about it.

From 3-8 to 6-6 with a shot at 7-6 is great. And maybe even a bit ahead of where I thought we might be at this point. Feels like we're not too far off from being able to compete for ACC titles again. Maybe in another year or two, assuming we continue to improve.

headed in the right direction. losing to the hoovers and having the season end would have obviously given off a completely different vibe to everyone, including recruits. getting that 6th win was huge, in my opinion............

....when we started out rough but improved all season and used a big bowl win to jumpstart the program.
Didn't we start out 0-3 that year before finishing 8-0 and then beating Texas, or do I misremember?

Although we've shown improvement, that shows we doubled last year's win total.
The bowl is a great reward for these guys working their tails off these last two seasons. They've definitely earned it!
