In college athletics, there is definitely an old boy network that is

hard to break into. A great example are some of the most inept head coaches seemingly able to land on their feet anywhere they want to, or some of the most crooked able to glide in for a smooth landing. Now, that being said, we could be getting stuck with a bill of goods just because of who he is, but it looks like he's got a good track record.

New AD top target is FAU AD Brian White per Pete Thamel

On paper, White seems like he should be a very good hire and do well in
VTHokie2000 06/22/26 10:04 PM ET
Good thing he's from Iowa. Boca and Blacksburg winters are slightly
Tombo 06/22/26 08:07 PM ET
Isn't Zach Mackey from Iowa as well?**

His father was previously Duke AD, brother is currently UT-Knoxville AD

I’ve always known there’s a lot of nepotism w/i coaching, looks like that
Hoakie82 06/22/26 06:40 PM ET
I don't agree with that **
HokiesACC2004 06/23/26 05:19 AM ET
This isn't nepotism. It's strong damn genes. Home run hire.**
UEMcGill 06/22/26 08:05 PM ET
I’m not talking about this particular hire or even judging any of the hires

My guess is he’ll be fine but it is a club many are lucky to be born into. **
Hoakie82 06/23/26 07:29 PM ET
Does he have a direct relative on staff at VT?
tallahasseehokie 06/22/26 07:58 PM ET
"brother is currently UT-Knoxville AD" -> VT to SEC confirmed**
Gouker 06/22/26 06:37 PM ET
No, but home and home with UT all but guaranteed 🤣🤣🤣**

Did Tennessee and FAU play each other? Genuinely curious.**
RoanokeHokie1872 06/23/26 08:13 AM ET
No, they have never played each other in football and they are currently
VTHokie2000 06/23/26 01:14 PM ET
Wouldn’t that be great. Or even a 3 game series, with one neutral site
Hokie`79 06/23/26 07:33 AM ET
If only there were a very large neutral field halfway between the two.**
Truthahn 06/23/26 09:25 AM ET
Yeah, can't think of any place halfway between the two. My mind is running
UEMcGill 06/23/26 03:29 PM ET
Don’t see it happening- UThug has such a delusional superiority complex
