I'm not so sure about that given how long VT had pined to become a member

of the ACC and the leadership's attitude towards the SEC. The leadership back then always struck me as having the mindset that VT wasn't a good "cultural" fit with the SEC in terms of the attitude towards athletics and maybe even academics. Plus, I am confident that VT used the SEC's interest in the late '90s to leverage full membership in the Big East Conference in exchange for VT renewing its commitment to the Big East Football Conference. ** Edited by VTHokie2000 at 9/30/2025, 3:04:33 PM
