Not so sure

I'm not aware of multiple times like Hokie 2000 said but12 or 13 years ago there was heavy smoke. I'm not going to day VT was offered because I don't know. Missouri eventually got the spot. There was much debate back then if VT should go. After all it took 50 years to get on the glorious ACC with its overall sports pedigree and regional ties. And there was no such thing as power 2, massive money differences, or huge football inferiority complexes. Surely FSU, Miami, and VT, with Clemson coming along could hang with anybody. And basketball was a dream. Myself, being a football guy first, wanted SEC membership. I knew the pitiful crowds opposing teams brought to Lane. Many with zero excitement factor. I wondering if Lane would have to expand with most of those schools brings 20-25k fans. But i did see the other side's point of view. We couldn't predict the 2nd class nature the non p2 conferences are in. And the money gap has made the SEC a better basketball conference which would have been hard to believe back then. All water under the bridge but my two cents.
