We are not going to be invited to either the B1G nor the SEC, because both are all about the money. Neither UVa nor VT increase the size of the pie. In fact, once things congeal, I suspect some schools already in the B1G and SEC will be cut loose (Rutgers, MD, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, etc.). Why? Because once the pie reaches its maximum size, the only way for the "elite" schools to increase their size of the pie is to decrease the number of slices. Read postings from @Chris Coleman , @Will Stewart , @David Cunningham and @Andy Bitter . Most of the additional funding is for projects like LED lighting, better cell phone coverage, etc. But first, the re-org has to occur, because current leadership has yet to demonstrate the ability to run the AthDept adequately. The AthDept went years without a CFO, and the current one is an empty suit. The Hokie Club is moribund at best. The head of the HC position has been unfilled for years. The list of fecklessness is endless. Most of us don't look at this re-org as desperation. We look at it as long overdue.
