As much as I mostly hate NIL and the transfer portal

There hasn't been a time in many decades that this many schools will be able to compete for playoffs/NC. It will all come down to $ and several private and public schools have very wealthy boosters. We are already seeing it with Vanderbilt, Texas Tech (oil baby), SMU (more oil baby), others. Stanford boosters appear to be ready to spend. Many blue chip schools were always willing to spend even when it wasn't legal. But some of these schools have booster money ready (or will be ready) to deploy. While I still don't like the premise of "buying your way to the top". It would be hilarious if 5 years from now, Alabama can't compete with some billionaire in Silicon valley that decides to go all in bringing his Stanford Cardinals a natty. I don't believe the blue chippers will go away, but the college football and basketball landscape could look very different. Unfortunately, I am afraid Tech will most likely be outgunned in a different game.

Interesting. I'll have to ponder that one. Timing seems to coincide. **
