It’s funny how this team is no longer being
Judged by the expectations from the CBB community and the media, but rather, we are deeming this season a failure based on our extremely high expectations that frankly, came in out of nowhere. Look, I’ll even be the first to say: I said we would have gone 3-0 and I stand by that. Lawal is extremely important to this team. Is he the savior? Absolutely not, but he’s our paint presence. That’s been obvious these past 2.
Now this board becomes a frenzy. Fans start calling for people’s heads, and too much emotion comes out.
There are glaring issues here and that’s obvious, but I don’t think they are as prominent as many of you believe.

It is looking very much like we will miss that goal for the 4th consecutive year. To not be disappointed is unrealistic.

We caught VCU on a hot day without a key player who averages 13 points, 10 rebounds.
We need to get Tobi back and regroup. Win our remaining OOC games and we’ll be fine heading into ACC play.

Was the lack of mental toughness. For most of the game (until the spirited press), the team acted like they didn’t want to be there.

come out ready to play. The only good part of the game was the 12-0 run going from 10 down to 2 up before VCU's timeout. Admirably made a decent run to cut it to 6, but as what usually happens to teams expending that much energy, they ran out of steam. Go Hokies. Keep getting better, get Tobi back, and hopefully, don't have any more injuries.
