Last night
The first half looked like CMY. Said forget about the “ system “ we suck just go play and it looked like an intramural game. We won because the refs really let them play. I liked it.

I had a different take
When watching the game and particularly the first half, my thoughts were man CMY is a great coach. He took FSU completely out of their game plan and dictated the game and how it was going to be played. The players hustled and played good defense and ran the offense very well. I give CMY tons of credit for a well coached game and an excellent game plan. When players get comfortable and play smart and free and hustle like hell, good things happen. Particularly when they don't turn the ball over and hit a few 3's along the way. It is tough to take a bunch of new players and try to mesh them together and expect them to perform perfectly right out of the gate. A good measuring stick for any coach is if the team improves throughout the course of the season and I believe that is what we are seeing.

And FSU couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Just pitiful on O.

Yeah, CMY had his guys ready last night and they responded with
their best 40 minute effort this season on both ends.. It is encouraging to see them play like that. I thought they did a great job handling FSU’s pressure and limiting their turnovers enough to give themselves a chance for the win. Hope they can keep up that intensity at UVa on Saturday. When they play with that kind of effort they will have a chance to win in most games.

FWIW, they simply executed "the system" better...
They've had halves this season where that's been the case. In the early part of the year they could only do it in small stretches. In conference play up until this point they've only been able to do it in halves. They've yet to put together a full game with the concentration and detail orientation necessary to certainly win games, but also to improve their understanding of what they're supposed to be doing That's the next step. Put it together for a whole game. Then put it together for a stretch of games. Then put it together for a season. Then put it together in high stress situations for a tournament. Not many teams get to those last few tiers. I'm not saying the current makeup of this squad can or can't get there. But you typically want to be able to put up a full game of execution before February. That hasn't happened

Looked like FSU thought they were still at the shoot around until the
second half started. ** Edited by VT One at 1/30/2025, 5:41:34 PM

We got after it in transition, at least to what we've seen the last..
