You do realize that "muting" is just automatically "not reading"

It's literally the same thing. You're not stopping them from posting. You're just removing the post from your own personal view (i.e. not reading it).

I won't personally use it, but it's not the end of days. I'm about as tired of people being dramatic and blowing everything up as you are of "cancelation culture"
