Even with a cleanly officiated game...

This VT team simply isn't very good, particularly on the road. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but there simply isn't "enough" on this team. A step slow on defense is something that is easily recognizable. However I can't tell if that is because of our lack of athleticism or the lack of experience within the system, which brings me to my next point... Player retention is a significant issue with CMY. If his system is so rigid that it requires a certain amount of tenure to get acclimated then CMY needs to figure that out. The revolving door that is college athletics is certainly a reality for everyone, however, with that being said, and to reinforce my point, CMY either needs to adjust the rigid system to which he is married or figure out a new strategy for player retention. Finally, and the most disappointing part, is that next year doesn't have a good outlook. We lose significant points, particularly with the loss of Cattoor, and I'm not sure how CMY replaces that production. He hasn't really had a ton of "hits" in the portal (there are exceptions, of course), so I'm not confident in the staff's ability to both land who they want and/or assess that next level of guys they seem to land. But, this is VT basketball - an average ACC program that can occasionally find lighting in a bottle.

I mean Nolly beat us last year. Alleyne won a chip. Cone is flourishing.

Again, it's an issue every program in the country has to deal with,
