Question for GC or Rev. or both

How does Poteat compare to Cameron Jackson at 2 years into college basketball? I can’t help but wonder if there is a chance that Poteat could end up developing in a similar way. Both players being passed over by high majors out of HS, close in height and weight, neither being shooters away from the basket (although Jackson started to attempt a few 3 point shots in his final season). I’m wondering about Poteat’s foot speed, quickness, screening and passing abilities, defense, etc. in comparison to Jackson at the end of their second year. Is there potential for Poteat to raise his game to something similar to Jackson (and to Jackson’s level?) by his senior season? Hoping so, because Jackson became very productive under CMY averaging about 14-15 points and 7-8 rebounds a game, often playing at the same time with Aluma or another big. Poteat could be with us the next 2-3 years, has me wondering about what his ceiling is.

Given your analysis
Hokie101 05/26/22 10:46 PM ET
He is essentially a 1:1 replacement of John Ojiako
GCHokie34 05/27/22 11:13 AM ET
Thanks. That is what I was thinking as well.

I think the comparison to Cameron Jackson is a good one

Yeah, we got it with LeDay, but that probably won't happen again.**

Very true...
GCHokie34 05/26/22 05:10 PM ET
I think Poteat has a high ceiling
YBYSAIAHokie 05/25/22 10:28 AM ET
Higher ceiling than Ojiako? (serious question, not TIC)**
HokieSA 05/26/22 09:49 AM ET
Yes. Poteat has had much more playing time than Ojiako. **
YBYSAIAHokie 05/26/22 12:55 PM ET
not that much more really
Pylons 05/27/22 09:54 AM ET
Poteat averaged 14 ppg in two years. Ojiako averaged 4 ppg. **
YBYSAIAHokie 05/28/22 11:02 AM ET
14 points per game? I see half that (6.8) in his stats
Pylons 05/28/22 11:05 PM ET
I am sure you do....**

If he isn't lost on defense like Ojiako, he will play**

Who is Cameron Jackson?**
st_andrew 05/25/22 08:20 AM ET
Forward who played for Mike Young at Wofford.**

Not either one but GC indicated he would be comparable to Pemsl
949hokie 05/24/22 08:46 PM ET
Think I remember seeing a comment likening to Pemsl’s role, but Pemsl was a
NC Hoke 05/24/22 11:59 PM ET
Pemsl was very good as a freshman at Iowa. 9 points 5 rebounds
