I think the point on close games really is.....

Being more efficient on defense doesn't necessarily make you better than 50% in close games, but it shifts all of the game outcomes such that there are more games in the win side of 50/50 games and less games on the loss side. You are correct on the narrative and issues from last year. I'd even say that not only did Maddox miss half the season, he was likely mentally distracted for the half he played (and justifiably so). That's the same as a physical injury that you play through but limits your performance. Also, even when Cattoor came back he was not 100%.
