i do believe relative "devaluing" of conference tournys is a thing

the Committee will not give as much weight as a regular season game. There are several justifications of that- the least admitted is the committee doesnt like to make last minute changes as it becomes a domino effect. The bottom line IMO for VT is pretty dismal - I think we have to win 3 games and still hope a couple of other teams ahead of us get knocked out early, and also hope against any auto "bid stealers" from upset winners.

For the most part only winning a tournament seems to matter to the Panel.
