I"m not sure how you see VT as in the top five in wealthly alumni. All...

of the following are or would very likely have more wealthy alumni and/or more wealth among them: UVa, UNC, Duke, Standford, Cal, GT, Notre Dame, SMU, and Miami (likely). We have a supportive alumni base, but we have lower numbers of older alumni. In 20 or so years, the numbers deficit will disappear and the volume of potential doners may offset some of the universities with alumni with higher weath. It is not clear where VT would fall in the remaining 9 universities.
