Transferring to be closer to home, transferring to escape an abusive coach (Mike Rice, Lonergan, etc), transferring to be closer to a gf/bf, transferring because of life circumstances (having a child, etc) Where you either make a mistake or make an unintentional distinction is thinking that any of the reasons for leaving are represented equally in the number of transfers. For instance, you listed 4 categories...those categories are not split 25%, 25%, 25% and 25%. Tons of kids who are cut do find homes. 100% of the kids we cut in my decade as a coach found homes. We lost a total of 2 who wanted better opportunities...in a decade. But I can guarantee you that the 45% of people who didn't find homes were cut. Being good enough that a coach wouldn't want to cut you, transferring anyway and no one else finding you worth a scholarship simply doesn't happen. In order to prove this. Please name someone who transferred willingly and didn't find a home. It just doesn't happen. So 45% is guaranteed to be cuts. So all I need for my statement to be absolutely true is for 25% to be cut, but find a new home. That's less than half of the remaining transfers who did find a home. It is very easy to find that to be true. Come up with any number of players who left their school willingly and I'll provide 2 players who were cut. Cutting players is the overwhelming majority of players who enter the transfer portal...that's not an opinion
