You have the following groups: 1) Players who enter portal to move up (example Justin Mutts) 2) Players who think they are better than they are and go in portal due to not getting PT they think they deserve subgroups: - move to lower level school competition and get PT (Example Bamisile) - problem children who can't find home coaches turned off and player ego won't accept drop to lesser program 3) Players who go into portal due to coaching change (often follow coach who recruited them 4) Players who are quote: "cut" told they are unlikely to get PT (if coach doesn't threaten scolly they really fall into #2) - one group moves to another school - one group can't find a home / of course hard to say how many of these are willing to go to any school that will give them a full ride at worst programs in D-I?, how many can't afford to go to D II where they may only get partial help to pay for school? So, how many chose not to continue because they cannot get any school to take them and give them a scholarship vs after being "cut" lose confidence desire to play, etc.? I am not sure what solution is perhaps their scholarship should be guaranteed, meaning school that signed them has to pay for their education up to value of their scholarship if they are not offered a scholarship to play elsewhere. So if they want to go to D-II or D-III or just another school they have $$$ to help get their education?
