They constructed a roster that was very good...

I don't agree that they didn't expect a contribution from Collins. But they certainly didn't expect to need him early. Pedulla, Cattoor, Maddox, Mutts, Basile, Rice, Collins, Kidd and situational Poteat is a very good rotation. And they showed as much by being a Top 25 team, even when they were down Rice. I would have liked to have seen them not take Wessler and instead take another wing to bridge the gap for Collins. But honestly it's probably not a huge difference in the W-L column. They probably beat BC and GT...but probably not BC the second time. But with the ideal lineup, the one they constructed, it's most definitely a Top 25 team and one that isnt sitting on the bubble. They were a 5-seed according to Lunardi before Cattoor got hurt. A 5-seed. The competition didn't get better. VT beat Duke and UVA anyway. But they have struggled with teams they should have no trouble with. And teams they would've had no trouble with at full strength. So the only thing that has changed is players being unavailable. Not sure how you can pin that on the staff....
