He hasn’t been able to construct a roster effectively enough, whether that’s due to decision making or guys that don’t want to play in the system, it’s pretty undeniable. We don’t have much positional diversity, and the system doesn’t allow the flexibility needed. If MY was coaching when JRob got hurt in 2018 there’s no way we would’ve have seen a complete system overhaul like what we did to keep humming. This is the nth year in a row that we haven’t had a legitimate wing player who can play the 2-4. We have 4 scholarships occupied by guys who can only play the 5, only one of whom (Basile) that isn’t a matchup dependent situational player. Mutts is the only real 4 on the roster, and he didn’t commit until late in the offseason. Pedulla is the only true PG on the roster, Rice could probably play it but we all know he’s more of a scorer. We have 3 off-guards, then two forwards who we signed that have no business playing minutes for at least a couple years in Camden and Buchanan. We would’ve had the same issue in the past only with post players. If either of Aluma or Mutts had gotten hurt we would’ve been playing 4 on 5. At some point you face adversity, the fact that we can’t survive being down 2 guys (one of whom had never played) is scary. Also, we signed 4 scholarship players were we weren’t expecting contributions from (Wessler, Buchanan, MJ, Camden).
