Holy smokes, Wake’s Nick Kurtz (rookie) had a night for the A’s
6-6, 4HRs, 8 RBIs, double and single. That has to be one of the greatest lines rookie or not. I think there were a few on here that questioned if he was really a first rounder before the VT-WF series. He made a quick jump to the majors and is crushing it. PS: his double was halfway up the wall in the deepest part of the ballpark and would have been out of several MLB parks. ** Edited by HwoodHokie at 7/26/2025, 10:08:46 PM

Wake sure wasted a lot of talent.

Amazing performance. Don't recall anything comparable!

I saw Mark McGwire hit 3 straight HRs as an Oakland A's player vs. Boston
at Fenway Park. He hit the homers in his first 3 at bats. The Red Sox walked him the next 2 at bats and the Sox fans booed their own team.

Reminds me of what he did against us in 2024...
In game 3 of our series with Wake Forest, Kurtz went 3 for 4 with 3 hr, 7 rbi, 4 runs and a walk. He ended up homering in all three games of our series and finished going 7 for 11 with 5 hr, 9 rbi, 8 r, 1 2b, 4 bb and just 1 so. He entered the series hitting just .247 on the season and missed some time over the prior 2-3 weeks with a shoulder injury but he clearly got things on track against us. The big thing with him will be injuries as he had some injuries at Wake in 2023, the aforementioned shoulder injury at Wake in 2024 then had a hamstring injury last fall as a professional and then had an early season hip injury this year. If he can manage to stay healthy, the sky is the limit for him.

Good post. I also recall he was hurt/struggling before our series and then
exploded. Agree if he can stay healthy that guy is going to be a stud. Of course the MLB opponent scouts will tear his tape apart to find a weakness.
