"Over recruiting" definitely occurs. This sport is not for the faint of heart. The 2021 class (high school graduating year) had 17 commits the summer before they arrived. There are 4 kids remaining from that class. This is not a phenomenon that is unique to Virginia Tech. The extra covid years and the portal have further complicated the playing field for freshmen.... So, to your question....YES, kids are cut at the end of the fall..... Hell, we cut a kid this year a week before the season began. This sport is not for the feint of heart
