This is kind of how I felt about Lawal coming back on restricted minutes. For the past however many games whenever someone enters some foul trouble whether that’s Hansberry, Schutt etc. it affects the team because the drop off in performance when the bench pieces come in is significant at times. Take the Elon game or the end of the first half against Louisville when Schutt got 3 fouls as examples. Even if TJ plays 10 mins, that helps the team. He’ll need to get back up to speed but playing him for even a short amount of time if he’s ready is beneficial.

Dorn carries no designation. CMY said earlier this week that Tyler Johnson has a real shot at playing this upcoming weekend against Duke, so he should be back either by then or very soon after that barring any setbacks ** Edited by samba6 at 1/27/2026, 10:21:14 AM

Tyler Johnson was in a boot and crutches. Do we know how he’s doing or how long the injury might keep him out for? I know Dorn is probably decently close and Lawal is moving along to hopefully get back soon in January, but Johnson I haven’t heard anything about.

Not entirely sure, but it’s widely thought that Tobi will not fully enter the draft and will return to VT. He’ll get feedback from NBA scouts and work on it over the offseason. I’d imagine CMY and co at least somewhat believe the same and are well equipped for if and when he returns. I don’t think holding NIL for Tobi has a great effect on who CMY is looking for and trying to get in the portal either way.

For how myself and I’d assume most of fans will feel about Pry and the program. Like many have said, Pry’s game management issues are a huge problem and the inexperience of him as well as the coordinators might be the biggest reason of our season’s disappointment. Inability to win one score games doesn’t give a lot of faith in him to really get his guys to fight hard to grind wins out. I think the coordinators need to go regardless, but I’m not fully out on Pry yet, especially with the expensive buyout. 2-0: brings us to 7-5. Season is still a disappointment but it shows Pry and the team didn’t give up when things were most bleak. It shows good culture in the locker room and that’d at least give me a little hope that Pry can learn and be better. Still definitely need staff changes. 1-1: brings us to 6-6. I’m assuming that loss is the Duke game. Not a great way to go out. Staff changes are an absolute must starting with Bowen and Marve especially. We make a bowl game but it feels inconsequential and not sure where the future lies for this program under Pry. This is probably the most likely outcome to me. 0-2: no bowl game, 5-7. The absolute worst outcome. Ending the season losing 4 in a row shows the team just gave up. Serious questions need to be asked and Pry’s “good culture” is completely gone. We’re probably screwed with Pry’s buyout to stick with him for another season either way, but this would give me little hope for any progress in the next couple seasons to come at least. I think in any outcome, Bowen and Marve probably need to go and we need more experienced coordinators to get us to any success next season and beyond, but I’m curious to see how Pry handles the pressure these next two games with being on the hot seat. Lots of fans have already lost faith, and his job is (sort of) on the line. We’ll see what happens I guess.

But I don’t think Drones played very well today either. Multiple overthrown deep balls to Felton that could’ve been TDs. Two turnovers (one being at crunch time) and a number of other less-than-mediocre throws that resulted in incompletions. I’m not putting it all on him. Bowen hasn’t been any good with the play calling either and deserves the criticism, but Drones didn’t move me today.

Love the Hokies and Rutgers. Watched a lot of Griffiths this season, he didn’t seem to develop like the team and fans hoped he would. Lots of problems with the team but he seemed to have lost his confidence and couldn’t make his open looks. He’s not very great defensively, I’d say about on par with Nickel. However I do believe he’s better at getting to the rim. His shooting just wasn’t there this year. I don’t really anticipate him being as good as Nickel was in the first year, but if he stayed long term he could develop into something better.

I swear it comes on at least twice every commercial break.

Even if the season hasn’t gone exactly to plan, Cattoor has been one of the best players to come through the program and really doesn’t have many BAD games. He shoots at a very high level and plays some great defense. Really gonna miss him but proud of all he’s done for the program. Whatever happens the rest of the season, I’ll be enjoying watching him play.

He does have to come back for court for one of his two speeding tickets though. From my understanding he got two speeding tickets in two days and one was a reckless driving charge. He left the program a few days after that.

We let them shoot insanely well. Probably one of the worst games we played last year

I assume they were worried about a concussion but we could really use him tomorrow. Hopefully he’s ready to go

Transfer from northwestern named us in his top three schools. Anybody got a scouting report on him? I saw he averaged 7.5 PPG and 4.5 RPG last year. How would he fit in the system? Can he rebound well/play good defense? I believe we are lacking in those departments

He visited Gonzaga this weekend and the general consensus is that he’s pretty much a lock to end up there.

5 star center almost chose us last year before going to Gonzaga. We don’t have a scholarship spot right now though assuming Basile and Cattoor decide to come back

Our best defender in mutts is gone and we replaced him with Long who is not a bad pickup by any means but to my understanding is a worse defender. I like Nickel, he appears to me to just be a better and more physical version of John Camden, but again defense and rebounding aren’t his strong suits. If this is the squad we have assuming Cattoor and Basile come back, (which hopefully they do cause we need them) where will the defense come from?

Will Cattoor and Basile come back? Is Darius truly gone? Will any of the likes of Rice, Kidd, Pedulla, or anyone else transfer out? What do we think

He was honored at senior day and the video from his parents made it seem like this was it. I know Mutts was honored last year and still came back but what do we think the chance is for Cattoor? I think Grant will probably come back for another year. Though he needs to step up his defense and rebounding

Let’s say Basile and Cattoor both decide to come back next year. With Mutts leaving and the new recruits, will we have any scholarships to give to maybe get someone in the transfer portal?
