So who's in for sec and BIG10?
Wash and Mich are not locks and Alabama not either. I could see them as being spoilers given their talent level.

New additions to SEC and BIG10
Why is the assumption bringing in top tier teams (SEC BIG)will bring more CFP spots ? Isn't there a higher chance of making more 9-3 teams instead of 11-1+ teams? How many 9-3 or 8-4 teams make the CFP. To me the path to CFP looks easier in the ACC than SEC or BIG10

Just a thought on CFP
The B10 has 18 schools. Ohio st, Mich, Penn, Ore, wash, USC, Wisc, Mich St, all expect to get in the CFP. Call me crazy, bit wouldn't your chances of getting in the CFP go down if you add more top programs to a conference? How many 2-loss teams will make it? Same with the SEC. Both conferences expect to get 5-6 teams in. If I'm ND, I'm going to the ACC for an easier path to the CFP. 80% of success is showing up. Can't win if you not in.

I agree. Go big or get eaten
Itβs time for the commissioner to blow the lid off. He need to grab his jank and go 20. Gobble up PAC 12 OR, WASH, WSU, STAN, CAL, hold a spot for ND. Push for CFP 12. The ACC would have 2-5 on any given Year in the CFP. I would take the beefed up ACCN to ESPN and NBC and see If the revenue needle move then he will be the hero. If it doesnβt at least he went down fighting. Now is not the time to be a spectator. Not many teams left with good tv numbers. If he waits , the only teams with viewers under 1M per game. Power move now before itβs to late. And drop all the merger talks with the PAC12. Anything over 20 teams is asking for trouble. And I would definitely do a weighted revenue distribution based on performance and viewership. Itβs all about money so go big.

I wonder what would happen if Notre Dame joined the ACC..
And asserted its media dominance to control the conference. They could technically experiment because they wonβt be bound by the grant of rights if they negotiated tough. If it works great, if not go to another conference. If they go to the BIG10, their chances at a conference title and CFP go down. They would probably be in the top 5 but rarely number one. If they move to the SEC, their chances are even slimmer to be in the top 5-8. Their chances at a conference title and CFP invite is enough to say no. But in the ACC they will always be in the top 3. Maybe only second to Clemson. They will mostly likely see the conference championship game and a CFP invite every year. Notre Dame could come in and the ACC could add Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Utah and maybe take Cincinnati or BYU. Raid the BIG12. Open up the media contract with some strength. The PAC12 leftovers would be happy because they have access to a network. ACC members would be happy to not get picked apart. The stronger members would probably push for a deal that distributes money according to the final standing. And Notre Dame can have some control and flexibility to bail if it doesnβt work. Itβs possible the ACC could negotiate a deal close to the BIG10. They donβt have to have more money than the BIG10, just close enough to be no. 2b instead of a distant no. 3. Force a 3 conference situation instead of 2. Just a thought.
