How about a throw back...can they use Gobbler? I just voted and
recommended Gobbler Wrestling Club. That would be a pretty good throwback to the old days. I don't know if VT still has active naming rights to that or not, but it could be something a bit unique/different and a throw back.

IMO If there is a top-end wrestler available at a position of need for the
Oranges, then with the endless bag of cash they have, then 80% of the time that is where they are going to go. I can't imagine that Blaze goes anywhere but there. I would suspect that there were back channel conversations about how much a wrestler like that could get at the Oranges.

IMHO Seidel is a good all around wrestler, but he makes his living via mat
wrestling. He is dominate on top, especially with his tilts. As such his wrestling style is more conducive to Folk Style. So I would expect the results to be a lot different in folk style.

The Maryland snow storm game when they had Vasquez was an incredible
environment. I was there and will never forget out loud it was, as it was packed to the top with mostly students.

This is why the Southeast open is hosted at Roanoke College... if at VT
then ACC network has television rights. I am not sure how much Flo pays to broadcast it, but it is better than not getting anything for the wrestling team.

Flo just said on air that there is a dispute on our match and they are
working to figure it through... I am guessing that we will get the W now...at least we should, unless there is no process to let us do that.

We won if they count all the points... but they declared Illinois
The questions is can they reverse it? I would say they should be able too... but I don't know...

Here are the match points I have...with a tie on adding Sasso's RT point.
Am I missing anything? Maybe I have my criteria wrong, but in this case we win.
69 69
125 6 3
133 2 5
141 14 4
149 9 1
157 4 19
165 6 9
174 7 13
184 3 11
197 12 2
285 6 2

If Sonny wins 12-2 with the Mullin win it is 69-69 match points.
I think they didn't give him the riding time (it doesn't show on the scores)... which gives Illinois 1 more match point.

The scorer had a final score of 11-2... I think that point puts us tied and
we should win with NF 4 - 3
Wrestling Board

Sonny got a stall call with 3 seconds to go up 11-2... after RT that is 12
so should have been 12-2... what am I missing?

I am very glad that he seems to be finally healthy and getting his
conditioning back. I know that is a long process and doesn't happen with a snap of fingers and that he has poured in a lot of hard work and had to listen to the haters as he has made his way back. Good that he was able to use that as fuel to the fire, and take something positive from the NATT's. So I am sure he will continue to get better in the coming month and ready to rock out at NCAA's.

The refs were very bad overall on their calls, and I don't think it was
really biased either way. There were several instances were a wrestler was working on a take down and they called stalemate a bit too soon IMO.
On the Church, they called him for his second stall call (I don't know when the first was, but Robie didn't seem to be complaining much on that (just the head gear pull)), to give the other guy a point in OT.
WRT Fisher I think possibly it could have also have been to get him his last start in a dual as a senior. TJ needs all of the matches he can get right now to get an allocation for the tourney. (He looked really good by the way, hopefully this is a sign that he is getting his injury behind him). So we can't afford to take him out of any dual right now.

I certainly do hope you chose to stick around, as I as well as others
value your input. Though I certainly do understand your frustrations. Seems like there are NATTS everywhere trying to bring everyone down.
I do think we can all see that T.J. is getting in to shape and I think he will be coming into form at the right time.

Ty Walz in the stands in Paris. (spoiler)
When Dake went into the stands Ty got a lot of screen time, as he was in the row behind Kyle's family. I hope he is having a good time and enjoying his new position.

That is a wise move. I don't come on here until I have had a chance to
watch the most recent matches. It is impossible to not get a spoiler or be enticed to click on a post.

You can complain all you want, but it is a money business now. So unless
you have several million dollars you want to donate MBB every year moving forward, we will continue to be where we are. It can be a bit depressing and frustrating, but that is the reality. I am hopeful that every once in a while we can put together a good enough team to make a run in the tourney, but as a realist that will be few and far between.

Wonder if you get the money and the relationships and education. That is
what you call a WIN, WIN, WIN.

We certainly do hope that he decides VT is the future place for him, but
I certainly do respect that him and you have to do what you think is best. I just hope that is to continue to be a Hokie. :) He is such a fierce competitor, with a big heart.

I think we are situated pretty well, but I still think there are a handful
of teams that money doesn't matter. While we are in the top 15 in recent history in funds for NIL type stuff. There are talks that we are wanting to keep BA and ML on as SERTC athletes. Last year we didn't have to pay out that kind of money to resident athletes, so we had more money to work with. That money comes out of the pool of NIL money for our roster, and does impact us a bit.
Overall I agree with you. To be clear I am not worrying about it, as it will do no good. I think that it will end up happening, maybe not this year, but it definitely will happen. If we all think it is not possible, then I think that is when we are crushed even more and maybe we don't respond so kindly to the wrestler.

Unfortunately in these NIL days I wouldn't get too excited about future
roster projections, at least until fall semester starts. If CKB and the MBB team has taught us anything ... money talks. Their are no loyalties anymore if someone is paying enough. PSU, the oranges, Michigan, and many others have higher budgets than us for NIL. If they want someone on our team, and that person is listening, then they are gone. It is unfortunate and inevitably it will be the down fall of college sports, but I can't blame them for chasing the money, especially in wrestling. They can make more in their 4-5 years in college than they can make in the years after wrestling if they choose to stay in the sport. Hopefully they have good role models to help them make the best decisions for their futures, including considerations for what college degrees and their future careers look like.
To be clear I have no first or second hand knowledge on any of our guys. I just think it is inevitable. It personally seems that Caleb Henson is happy here... but what if the Oranges reached out and offered him $500K/ year? Their have been some strong rumors stating that those types of numbers have been thrown out for other wrestlers in the past, not of his caliber. And there are teams that have that kind of money. That would be a hard thing to pass up... imagine what you could do with a cool million over two years... Heck even half of that would be amazing.
To be clear I am not trying to be a downer or NATT... quite the opposite, I am a RATT. I just wanted to note it so hopefully we as passionate Hokie fans don't disrespect any wrestlers or their families if they do decide for other opportunities. I will of course be crushed, but unfortunately that is the world we live in now. If you want to help give the tools to our coaches to keep our wrestlers here please donate to SERTC.

You say that as if the point is guaranted Do you know much about Griffith?
There is no guarantee you do get out from under him. He is an absolute hammer on top. His best chance to beat Shane was on his feet.

His resume looks good, but I think it is a downgrade. Proof will be in the
in the results. But I feel that Hall as been huge for the team, and you guys have been doing very well for yourselves overall.
Oklahoma St. up until this year had been on the decline and having issues. Everyone saying Smith is getting too old etc. Then all of a sudden Esposito (their #2) decides to leave for USA wrestling for the Under 20 development team (which has to be a downgrade in pay and certainly in prestige). Everyone would have thought he would have a good shot to replace John Smith, and most don't think it will be too long until he leaves.
I originally thought this move was an extremely odd one for him. Then pretty immediately they hire another former cowboy and current head coach in Coleman Scott. Who leaves a head man position to go back to his alma mater, granted for more money. Now all of a sudden the talent is developing and they have gone from outside of the top 10 to a potential trophy team. Reading the tea leaves I am guessing that he was encouraged to look elsewhere. Especially since he didn't stay long at USA Wrestling... he leaves there for a demotion in pay and stature from when he was at Ok. St. not even a full year later.
At the end of the day what do a know, it could be about his family or other outside factors. I do know that despite his wrestling milestones his ones as a coach might be debatable. I want a strong ACC so I don't know if I am happy about the hire or not. Maybe a little happy, because hopefully it opens the door up for us a bit, while it at the same time isn't a horrible hire.

I don't think they would put him in the seed path of the #1. They do want
to see the best to in the finals not in the semi's or quarters. Though 174 is down this year, so it could happen.

Well they have wrestled this year and Catka won 4-1, just a month ago.
With that said Jimmy hasn't been all-in on wrestling practice yet due to football. If he applies himself just towards wrestling his ceiling is very high.

That is correct Crook can't wrestle attached and maintain a redshirt.
That is why all of Crooks matches this year he has wrestled unattached. If he wrestles one dual, or attached in one tournament his shirt is burned.
