That same movement takes a catcher from their normal backhand setup to a forehand setup the farther it runs laterally. The catchers are trying to frame the pitch and therefore not rotate the glove. For a lefty pitcher like Max with so much velocity and spin and right handed catcher like Zoe, that lateral run, combined with desire to frame can cause those issues. If Maz was a right pitcher that same movement would likely not be as much of an issue IMO because the catcher would simply reach farther to their backhand side to make the catch.

She has such incredible movement on her curve and drop and it's going 70+. It's very frustrating because at her best, she's among the best in the country. But she could also walk 8 in 4 innings. Was Pete's beard gray before she came to campus?...haha.

with the lineup hitting the way it is, it's great to bring someone in from the pen that throws strikes. No need to nibble when you have a lead. She came in yesterday behind, but still. We play from ahead with our lineup a lot. Hard to string 5-6 hits together because she has good stuff. Don't add extra traffic with walks and make them pile up hits.

The announcer said she'd gained something like 6mph from last year. Announcer also said it didn't sound like much, but it is. I had to laugh. 6mph is a massive gain in a year. Credit to Bree. Sounds like she crushed the offseason workouts.

I don't see why it's relevant if you are blocking the baseline when the runner is far away from you. If you're 10' down the line, you haven't impeded the runner. I think they should just require the runner to slide if safety is the concern.

even if you had catastrophic failure of the control system, it should be possible to put everything in manual. Manually start generators, manually start pumps via the H-O-A, but agree that normal operation should be auto-changeover. I do control HVAC control work, so not this exact stuff, but pretty similar. No way they should be running on batteries for anything other than bridging the gap to the generators. Hopefully the investigation will get to the bottom of it, but power outages are routine, I'm sure happening multiple times a year. This should all be routinely tested and vetted. Total disaster.
