Posting History (59)

Thrilled with the win! Also think the announcer did a great job.

Wasn't that the SEC network broadcast? Surprised how much he gushed about the Hokies.

That's so arbitrary. Obviously best chance to advance if VT starts 2-0, but

You're saying they can't if they make it to Sunday from the losers bracket? If VT has a 40-45% chance to beat UGA, .4*.4 is still 16% to advance. Certainly not neglibible.

I don't think it will or wont happen, if they played 5 times Iowa could win

Once. That one time could be Friday. Same for VT if they win the coin flips vs LSU and then face USC.

Evidence I want? Mathematical analysis

Something that would show, for example, SEC teams overperforming their underlying metrics/expected win rate compared to teams from other conferences (and data that shows that beneficial refereeing leads to that).

Wow, conference with big names makes money and spends more money, shocker

Doesn't mean any games are rigged. Again, if VT starts spending tons of money on NCAAW, they'll likely see more success, too.

Refs messing up a game isnt evidence it's rigged, there were bad calls in

the Super Bowl, too. A bad call benefitted the Rams in last years, too. These are humans, not robots (although I'm all for robot refs).

All your posts lack any actual evidence, it's all gut feeling based hearsay

There are no actual data points or analysis provided in anything you've said. They're all just vague "follow the money" and implying the situation is rigged, but when confronted with actual data that suggests otherwise, you're falling back to "well it's not *that* rigged". It's not possible to argue against, because you're just saying you feel otherwise and then questioning why others don't see it the way you do. It's because you're not making any evidence-based claims. All you've really said is that the SEC is rich. Yes, that's why they tend to have more success, because they are making more money and can spend it on their programs. If Virginia Tech spends lots more money on their program, they too will likely see increased and more sustained success.

Because this is tinfoil hat BS. SEC has won just 5 titles in 25 years

Complaining about refs is largely a coping mechanism that fans use when their favorite team loses. Can refs have a bad game? Yes. Are the refs paid to benefit the SEC? Without actual proof that isn't silly speculation of "well why wouldnt they?", it's just not a reality-based argument. "The earth is flat and we're just all taught to believe it's round because the powers that be make money if we believe it's round"

That doesn't really matter as far as Vegas lines go. You're not gonna set a

huge line against two juggernaut teams that are on paper somewhat evenly matched. Setting a -10 or +10 line would be a great way for Vegas to lose a lot of money.

The 6 seed, not a 6 seed

They're saying it would be sad to be the 3rd best 1 seed (3 seed overall) and be sent to Seattle if the 2 seed (2nd best 2 seed, 6 seed overall) is a west cost team.

Thanks softball team for making my post before Sunday games look good

"Let's go Hokies! In hindsight, adversity builds world series teams! And even if not, still a fantastic season."

To be fair, you don't know the life situation of people flipping the seats

If you're someone able to donate 6 figures, you're in a very different situation than perhaps a college student able to get their hands on a ticket, but maybe needing some help to pay off student loan debt. It's unfortunate, but there are a lot of reasonable circumstances why someone would sell.
