It’s always something with the ACC…
But now it’s showing it’s sold out, so perhaps I was just a bit late

Is anyone else having trouble buying tickets for today’s game or know
Where I can get 2 tickets? I’ve tried the link on the ACC Championship website and it says there are some left but then it can’t find any seats when you pick how many you want. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the update Pops! Can’t wait to have Carleigh for another year!!
Love the job Coach Duffy is doing and I’m very excited to see what she can keep building in Blacksburg.

No. My stance is you don’t know what you’re talking about.
And it’s very clear why you’re not a coach at a big name place. You don’t have to be a coach at all to know what you’re talking about. Clearly in your case it’s an empty title.

That would be two more brain cells than I see coming out of your corner.
I’m sorry your “coach” ego is so fragile you can’t admit when you’re wrong. You’ve been adamant all year he was a first round pick, now that’s not gonna happen and you get called out on it and just want to insult people and act like they’re dumb. There’s a reason you’re not a coach at one of these big places.

And he went through it last year… where did that get him.
It’s laughable that you’re still trying to die on this hill.

Just tired of the “experts” that think they know everything
A couple people in particular have been adamant that Neo was a guaranteed first round pick and jumped down the throat of anyone who said otherwise. Funnily enough, those same people have been eerily quiet on the subject recently.

Neo to the portal. Not very surprising after the way the season ended.
Where are all the experts who guaranteed he’d be a first round pick??

Not VT related, but an interesting topic going around right now…
What is your opinion on Miami (OH) and their chances at making the tournament? They are currently sitting at 30-0, yet lots of bracketologists and experts are still saying they have to win their conference just to make the tournament? Personally I think it’s crazy that a team can win 30 games and still have to win the conference to get in. While I understand they haven’t played many impressive games, it’s is still an incredible achievement to win 30 games, let alone without losing. There is no world in which teams that can barely make .500 in their conference should be getting bids over anyone with an undefeated regular season. Obviously the Mid-American is not the ACC or SEC, but I’d personally rather see a team that earned it throughout the year. Why even play a regular season if teams can go below .500 in conference and still be in or on the bubble?

I would agree Duffy certainly seems to get the most out of her players.
The team as a whole has noticeably improved throughout the year and I like Duffy’s demeanor on the sidelines.

Other players and coaches not named Mo and Mox

So are we in must win territory yet???
Or do the experts still think we can lose our way into the tournament?

I know WBB typically has bad officiating but this is horrible.
I’d be embarrassed if I was a high school league with these refs

I have seen MULTIPLE teams switch into zone against VT alone.
No college team uses it as their main defense but it definitely doesn’t hurt as a wrinkle depending on the matchup/situation
Men's Basketball Board

Except the top 30 teams like UNC and Arkansas don’t have 20 pt losses
At home to a below .500 team
Men's Basketball Board

That’s all you can resort to is calling someone soft that’s laughable
Looks like someone’s ego got hurt. I know you have to insult others to cope but wow I didn’t know coaches were this fragile
Men's Basketball Board

Absolutely. I think MY is best when he has players for 3-4 years
Unfortunately that’s just not college basketball anymore.
Men's Basketball Board

Been saying this for a while but the “experts” always blast people for it
MY is a great offensive mind but just not a good fit for today’s game.

You mean as soon as people bow down and conform to your opinion…
Even after today’s game you’ll still find a way to say everyone on here is an idiot for for voicing extremely legitimate concerns. How many times do we have to watch the same thing over and over again for it to get through YOUR head
Men's Basketball Board
5 mo ago
HAHAHAHA REALLY?
“Don’t be soft” says the guy crying about people booing PAID players after a terrible performance. Get over yourself dude. I guess they looked like an NCAA tournament team again today right?? Is everyone’s eyes still lying to them or you finally ready to admit what everyone has been saying?

It’s actually not hypocrisy at all.
I think it’s very fair to say that Neo has not been the top 20 player some “experts” on here guaranteed us he would be and to be disappointed in some of his performances given the expectations. Just because he has been disappointing relative to our expectations, doesn’t mean he can’t help our team win with another year of experience. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want him back, but we can be honest about his struggles and still understand that he we are better with him on the team vs not.

I like your take on the style of the NBA game and agree Neo can excel
as a passer at the next level. My biggest question is whether or not he has the speed and strength to translate to the next level. I think it will be hard for him to create separation and get to his spots to be effective as a passer. He also needs to be a much more consistent shooter. I would love to have him back for another year, and think it would be to his benefit as well.

Wow! You mean they’ve played 1 out of 10 like an NCAA tournament team
I absolutely love the way they played today, and would love to see that every game, but that’s currently the exception. There’s been multiple legitimate instances to question all of the things you listed above. Also I don’t see any snarky comment about Neo? Just waiting in case he might score 20 again or maybe other people were actually right? Wow could it be?

Yes they’ve had injuries but they are still underperforming
Relative to the talent on the team. I love MY as a person and a coach but I just think we have to start asking questions if he’s just not the best for today’s style of basketball and the age of mercenaries we find ourselves in. MY was a much better coach when he could keep players learning his system for 4 years instead of a few months. I don’t think this is being talked about enough. If y’all are fine with .500 seasons and being on the bubble with what was supposed to be one of our better teams in years, then we can continue to settle for mediocrity and keep doing what we’re doing. Just like we did in football and look where that got us til we lucked out with Franklin.
Men's Basketball Board

I have to agree.
GC will sit here and die on the hill that MY is the best coach to ever grace this earth and Neo is the best prospect college basketball has seen in ages, and he’s a coach so god forbid you disagree, his is the only opinion that could possibly be correct. However, if you use your eyes and put your giant ego aside, it is clear we are not getting the most out of the talent and and some point we need to start asking questions and having conversations. While MY is a great offensive coach, today’s basketball is just not the same. Yes the style of play has changed, but MY was a system coach and in today’s age of mercenaries, it is very rare that a player actually stays long enough to properly learn and thrive in a system like Mike Young’s. He seems to be pretty stuck in his ways of doing things so it’s very fair to ask if today’s game just doesn’t fit his strengths as a coach.
Men's Basketball Board
5 mo ago
Okay Mr. Know It All. Once again anyone with eyes can see its plausible
To question if changes need to be made. This team has WAY too much talent to be on the bubble. It’s okay to admit that today’s game just might not be the best fit for MY.

I think you make a very good point about potentially using him differently
Obviously when he’s left to play his game, Neo can be a game changer. Not many 6’9 guys can see the floor and attack you at different levels like he can, but when teams are focusing on him defensively, neither he nor the coaches have found an answer. I would like to see him off ball more as well, but this would also require some more buy in and effort from him. He seems to get a bit stagnant off the ball and he’s not fast enough to get away from people or big/strong enough to muscle over or through people. He’s also not the best screen setter, which is a shame, he could be a force rolling and dishing or popping up to the 3 line, or even just drawing a crowd. I honestly don’t care that he was 1-8 and has shot poorly, it happens, but it’s really the lazy and unforced turnovers and mistakes at critical moments that bother me. This has been a repeated occurrence now in multiple games and I think that hurts the team and warrants a spot on the bench more than anything else. You simply can’t have your “star” player checking out and making mistakes at critical points of seemingly every game. I think this leaves the coaches at a bit of an impasse because it’s hard to keep the talent off the court, but the way things have played out in ACC play, he has been shut down as the primary ball handler and he’s not a great off-ball player, so what do you do?
Men's Basketball Board
5 mo ago
The numbers say he had struggled, the eye test says he’s struggled
I think we can just admit he has struggled and it wouldn’t be completely crazy to think about distributing some of his minutes elsewhere until he figures things out. No amount of coach speak or “I know more than you” is gonna change what the eyes and numbers clearly show.

Her princess treatment is the only reason she doesn’t foul out in 1Q.
Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve never seen someone so blatantly get away with fouling game after game.

There is no way someone who claims to know so much like yourself
Can possibly watch Neo play against ACC competition and guarantee he is a 1st round pick. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t there’s still a lot of season left but you can put your ego aside and admit that he has not quite been as advertised. If he played like this for the rest of the year there is a very good chance he doesn’t sniff the first round.

Tech had plenty of wide open shots when Neo left.
Nobody could shoot today, if we just make half of our open looks we are in a tight game. At least the careless turnovers stopped and we at least got decent looks when Neo was out. Anyone who actually watched the game can tell you he was not helping the team towards the end. I’m glad MY finally took him out. Maybe it’ll be the kick he needs.

No I’m just making a snarky comment at the “experts”
Who guarantee he’s a first round pick even though he hasn’t even been one of the best 5 players on the team in recent games. MY however does probably have some obligation to play him given the promises they likely had to make to get him.

Crazy that just cause you’re a coach no one else can ever have an opinion
Dying on the hill that tech did everything they could do on the last play of the SMU game is also crazy. In no world should the best player on the court get a free lane to half court and a wide open shot. Thats just bad defense
Men's Basketball Board

Look at the picture you posted below, the defender is behind him the whole
time. That’s not contested. Letting someones best player run uncontested to half court for a wide open shot while you run behind them is not doing your job.
