Posting History (983)

We will say prayers for you and your family. Keep fighting.

I was diagnosed with cancer last year, had surgery to remove and am doing well so far. I am hoping it stays gone. Every day is a blessing.

Could this family be any more disfunctional?

Everything they do is a soap opera. So glad we are not involved with any of them...

This would the best way to kill my excitment for the upcoming season...

Please God, NO. I can't stand that guy and I would hate having to root against one of our guys, but I would root against him.

With all the US Open fun, I missed that Jaxon Smith is officially in the

portal as of 4/24. Not sure if we are pursuing, but I know this had been rumored.

Kyle Conel...he was built like a truck but was short. One of the best

upsets I ever witnessed at NCAA's. The whole place went bannanas except for the OSU fans.

FYI...Cornel 184 Chrstian Hansen commited to UNC...

don't know if that has any influance on Shapiro, but thougth it interesting.

DC was in a neck brace the whole time in Cleveland...

I didn't ask him about it, but he never took it off the times I saw him over the four days...

Robie Called Bryce Andonian “Coach” Bryce at the social in cleveland

Hope that’s what he is referring toâ€Ļwould hate to loose one of current guys.

As much as I want to keep everyone, you have to think we will lose 1 or 2

to the portal. We have a lot of depth that could start in other places and some guys will want their shot. It may depend on if we find some portal transfers that could trigger our guys leaving as well. With us projected to be a trohpy team next year, you have to think there are going to be guys wanting to come for the ride...

Not sure how they are getting the rest of the teams. Last year it was a

lottery with ping pong balls in a hopper. If that is the case again, it's luck of the draw...

National Duals info

Penn State, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio State, Stanford, Michigan, Iowa State, Minnesota and NC State have all received automatic qualifier invitations. Because all four of last year’s National Duals Invitational top finishers also placed in the NCAA Championships’ top 10, only 10 automatic qualification spots will be awarded in 2026 I imagine we would put our hats in the ring for one of the remaining 6 spots. Trumble winning the title and pushing us to 11th cost us an auto bid.

We were watching him walking around the arena all night during the finals

he kept moving seats, trying to talk to anyone who would engage him. We also noticed he kept changing which leg he was limping on. First it was the right leg, then the left, etc. I don't buy anything this guys says as he is solely focused on being in the spotlight as much as possible, no matter how he gets the attention. So glad we did not get him in the portal...I want nothing to do with him.

Give a Million Dollars to the SERTC and they will find you tickets.

You will likely have to donate at least $1500 next year or more to get tickets through the school. Even though we should get more next year than this year due to the larger arena size, the demand is going to be through the roof. I plan on upping my contribution again this year to ensure tickets.

From what I have heard, Jimmy never lifted in HS. It is not something you

gain overnight. He needs to hit the weights hard in the off season, but he was a bit behind the 8 ball coming in.

P.S. He also mentioned there may be a matching component to the gift...

so I hope we get some news on that soon. It would be nice to multiply the affects of our contributions.

Quick note...

Tournament was great as always. Some good, some not perfect, but this was supposed to be a rebuilding year, so I think we did fantastic as a team overall. I had not seen in mentioned, but Robie said at the Social on Saturday between sessions that we just received the largest single donation for wrestling ever...7 figures. The future is bright.

I have a funny feeling we may see Church in the quartersâ€Ļhe has been making

Steady strides and I have a gut feeling he could be our cinderella story from a low seed.

I think we should be generally happy with the seeds.

We have some opportunities to make deep runs and I don’t think anyone was under seeded. A few tough early matchups but I think we will have a real shot at a trophy with a little luck.

At large bids have been announced. ACC got 4 more in

125 Pounds Sulayman Bah, Columbia Desmond Pleasant, Drexel Mack Mauger, Missouri Brady Roark, South Dakota State Nicolar Rivera, Wisconsin 133 Pounds Braxton Brown, Maryland Dominick Serrano, Northern Colorado Dylan Shawver, Rutgers Marcel Lopez, SIU Edwardsville Luke Willochell Wyoming 141 Pounds Pierson Manville, Arizona State Braden Basile, Army West Point Billy DeKraker, Northwestern Matthew Martino, Princeton 149 Pounds Kaden Cassidy, George Mason Chance Lamer, Nebraska Max Petersen, North Dakota State Eligh Rivera, Princeton 157 Pounds Mason Shrader, Central Michigan Vinny Zerban, Iowa State Jonathan Ley, Navy Dylan Evans, Pittsburgh 165 Pounds Ryan Burgos, Edinboro Tyler Lillard, Indiana Matty Bianchi, Little Rock Jared Keslar, Pittsburgh Thomas Snipes, The Citadel 174 Pounds Avery Bassett, Lock Haven Jared Simma, Northern Iowa Luca Augustine, Pittsburgh Holden Garcia, Princeton 184 Pounds Tyler Bienus, Bucknell Sam Goin, Indiana Nick Fox, Northern Iowa Brian Soldano, Oklahoma 197 Pounds Evan Bates, Missouri Brock Zurawski, Rider Kael Bennie, Utah Valley Rune Lawrence, West Virginia 285 Pounds Emmanuel Ulrich, American Connor Barket, Duke Jack Forbes, Utah Valley Christian Carroll, Wyoming

I have to think Iowa, Iowa State, and Nebraska all have a chance to get

at large bids for their one missing wrester at each weight: Iowa - Voinovich 10-6, ranked 25th on Wrestlestat Iowa State - Zerban - 15 - 4, ranked 11th on Wrestlestat Nebraska - Lamer - 15-8, ranked 26th on Wrestlestat Good chance all three teams get to full rosters in Cleveland. ** Edited by VPIGUY at 3/9/2026, 4:42:06 PM

Robie has been fantastic...especially as of late. Iowa State got a great

one in Dresser and he has served them very well. I will always be thankful to Dresser for his time in Blacksburg as he helped to save VT wrestling and left it in a much better place then he found it. I told him as much when I ran into him at CKLV this year. Great guy and he will always be a great Hokie in my book. That being said...Robie is killing it and the future of VT wresting is in great hands.

I dont think I have it...

I bought an ACC champoinship ticket and now will not be able to attend.

Free to a good home and I can transfer to you on one condition...you have to agree to loose your voice leading the "Let's Go Hokies cheers". Let me know and I can transfer the ticket.

Agreed...you always have to count on 4 or 5 upsets per weight in the

conference tournaments that steal bids from those on the bubble who don't auto-qualify....it happens every year. If you want an at large bid, you better be in the top 22-25 at worst or you will likely not make it in. I think Church, Sergio, and Bullock all need to auto qualify at ACC's or they could be toast. Everyone else should be fairly safe unless they fall off a cliff on Friday and ACC's.

Agreed...I think we have overperformed as a team pretty significantly from

where the expectations were at the start when Caleb went into redshirt. We have had some nice surprises and some mild disappointments, but we can't complain about where this team is at the moment. The future is VERY bright and it's going to be a fun ride.

I have been to this dual many times in the past and we are normally 50% or

better of the crowd. It won't be hard to find the VT section as VT fans will be everywhere.

UVA doesn't have a lot of highly ranked guys, but they are all good. I

dont think we run up the score that bad. I would not be surprised to see a few backups get a shot if anyone has any nicks.

He has always been that way. If I am not mistaken, he is the guy who used

to be smoking cigarettes on his way to the mat. He normally does all his scoring in the first period as he always gets gassed in the 2nd period.

I would excpect that we may see a few guys who are not normal starters get

a chance if anyone is banged up. The duel will never be in doubt and a good chance to get some guys a look live.

Agreed...this one could go either way and if I was a betting man...

I probably don't see us pulling it out. It's probably a 2 -4 point difference if everything goes the way I expect it to. Next year will not be close so this is the puppies last chance at a win against us for a while...
