Amoore had a few good games recently but yesterday injured her knee.
She did something to the knee that had the ACL tear repaired last year. Didn't come back in for 2nd half yesterday in the game that the Mystics ended up winning in 4 OTS. Hope she didn't re-tear it.

Wasn't benched.
Georgia is on minutes restriction due to her knee injury. In the first 2 games she played mostly 1st and 2nd qtrs. In this game it was announced pre-game she was even questionable to play but she ended up starting and playing alot including in 3rd and 4th qtrs. She didn't play in OT which is probably a good thing.

Georgia is their starting point guard
Playing limited minutes but looking like the same ole Georgia as far as playmaking ability and her ability to be the floor general.

Doesn't seem her knee healed that well for her to be her normal self.
She mentioned her surgeon and trainer in Blacksburg when she came back to the staff there. Still trying to get back to feel like herself.

She was not good at Kentucky
Alot of hype but she didn't seem to be very good at Kentucky the games I saw and Coach Brooks wasn't playing her very much which is probably why she transferred. Doubt he has an issue getting the NIL he wants at Kentucky if he really like someone and thinks there is a future.

The problem I see it is we're not successful, he'll be the one people blame
He'll be the first one to be picked on, rightfully or not.

Georgia is at all the Mystics games.
Georgia is still with the team, she just doesn't play. She sits on the sidelines and takes notes. The Mystics are fun to watch, Kiki and Sonja Citron and really fueling them and have to wonder how much more fun they can be when Georgia is ready next year.
As for Liz, really surprised the Aces waited for Liz over a year through her rehab, and then waived her so quickly. The Coach seemed very high on her potential. Seems to be in panic mode and needed to waive Liz to get the trade completed she wanted.

She meant the basketball program.
Everything with Georgia is in context of basketball. She meant she went there when the basketball team wasn't very good.
She's right. It wasn't. They had not won any ACC Championships and no basketball team at VT men or women had ever gone to a Final Four. Nothing really wrong with what she said. Straight facts.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Terrible. She can recover from it but that's a huge blow just when her dreams of playing professional basketball were being realized. Hard to believe first Liz and then Georgia.

I see your point and I think we agree.
No I don't think Kentucky fans will follow Georgia as much now that she's gone. Even though Kentucky probably has a larger basketball fanbase, that's mostly for their mens team. They didn't even sell out their arena, which is smaller than Cassell, for their 2 NCAA tournament games and I think only sold out 1 regular season game (Louisville).
At VT, it wasn't just women's basketball fans that followed the team. Liz and Georgia drew in people to become women's basketball fans that hadn't paid any attention to it before. A friend of mine's husband that went to alot of the 2023 games with us, including the LIz Kitley buzzer beater against NC State said they were some of the best basketball games he'd ever seen.

Everyone knows Georgia for what she did at VT.
Georgia's year at Kentucky was good for her but most people who knew of Georgia Amoore knew of her at Virginia Tech.
Also Georgia has mentioned enjoying her time at VT in several interviews since she left. She said the Final Four run her junior year transferred the trajectory of her future. (put her on the path to the WNBA which she wasn't sure was in reach before then).

G went to a bad team when she went to both VT and Kentucky
Probably was in her favor its not her first time going to a bad team and on each one she was a key part of their success in their rebuilds.

Plenty of VT Fans still follow Georgia
VT fans are usually all over her social media postings. Plenty still following her.

Move on.
Georgia played for VT as much as any other athlete that has played for VT. Athletes follow their coaches and always were allowed to transfer when their coaches transferred and many of them did. Never liked the WNBA either but the newer generation of players is making it very popular and the WNBA is growing by leaps and bounds.
The Mystics are in a rebuild made smart picks in that regard. They took 3 1st round picks that were the most accomplished and popular players in big programs with large fanbases for women's basketball, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Notre Dame, and also they took Lucy Olsen from Iowa in a later round. Georgia herself has been an impact player in 2 rebuilds, VT and Kentucky. She's a great fit for them.

No loss involved. Georgia's decision worked out.
All her stats got better this year, and she got out from under Liz's shadow and became known for herself. Went as a TOP 10 pick to a good situation where she'll likely stick and get good playing time. No real difference in her draft position compared to what she would have gone last year most likely and going # 6 year year is possibly higher than she would have last year.

Why was she in the doghouse?
This is really odd but if he was going to cut her, better to do it when he came onboard last year, rather than keep her just this one year and let her think she was on the team til she graduated.

Similar but Georgia didn't seem too upset about it.
Probably good they didn't advance as they play in the tournaments was all Georgia. Good way for her to get an injury right before the WNBA draft she'd already deferred for a year.

Will be tough. They will need more from Strack/Key/Clara Silva
Strack has to stay in the game, they'll have a chance if she does. Not much if she gets in foul trouble which she's prone to do.

Historic
Believe she had 23 1st half which was the best Womens NCAA Tournament half since Caitin Clark had 24 in 2022.

They will go as far as Amoore and Strack can take them.
Their supporting cast has not been able to turn it up down the stretch in the last few regular season games. The VT 2023 team had a much better supporting cast along with Liz and Georgia. Kentucky is probably a Sweet 16 team but not sure they can beat a USC or UCONN in the regional rounds.

90% of coaches would have lost those last 3 of 4.
Kenny Brooks has done very well but it was what they expected of him. Most coaches in the country would have also lost those last 3 of 4 games. His last 4 were Texas, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina. They got handled by Texas but played LSU well enough to win (had a big lead in the 1st half) and really should have won. They blew out Tennessee which was ranked # 11 at the time, and played a pretty good game against South Carolina. Not many teams play South Carolina within 1 in the 4th qtr but they did.
Now most of his success was Amoore, who was 50% of their offense, either scoring or on assists. She's had a great year.
Without her, they don't win many games and probably would have been bottom of the conference.

Coach Duffy said postgame on radio that Tilly is good.
Said she just got a bloody nose and they held her out but she is good!
