Posting History (188)

Oh my!

Glad Coach Pete doesn’t hold to that philosophy-we wouldn’t have a team to play every other game!!

I’m going to say this-

On March 12th I broke my ankle in 3 places. Had surgery and my son wheeled me to Beamer Way so I could watch the home games. I’ve looked forward to every game since my outings have been limited. Whether they won or lost the one this evening, this team has given me joy in a difficult spring and for that I am grateful. Now, ladies, continue on tomorrow!!

That is amazing

since the VT/FSU game was mostly Hokies (exception of 200-300 FSU fans)!I wonder the split on the TX/Bama game?? I watched the end but really didn’t notice the crowd.

Was that a smooth over comment?

β€œVa Tech is one of the hottest teams in the nation.” Then -nothing-silence!!

Well

according to Taylor Tannenbaum-there will be just as many FSU fans there as there will be VT fans! It will be equally divided she said. We need to get Emma Lemley a spot on that set for next year!

Exactly!

This post game show was almost totally FSU. They gave an obligatory nod to VT interviewing Bree and that was about it. Ridiculous!!! If we win tomorrow they will have to just sit there and look pretty. They have no content on us!

Thanks, Midlo.

I thought she looked very tired and a little frustrated as well yesterday. Did she finish the game? I’m with you-really want to see us play FSU in the finals. Hoping we get that opportunity!

lol! I’m

Recovering from broken ankle surgery. I paced at one point in my boot and crutches!!

She pitched most

Of the game today. I didn’t watch the last two innings, so someone may have come in. UNC really hit her those first 4 innings. Not sure if they’ll pitch her again??

When Coach Pete

spoke at Blacksburg Sports Club in late winter he was asked this same question. He mentioned the same but also added that you did have to be able to hit the ball and you had to be a great fit and want to come to B’burg. He did a great job that day! Really enjoyed his speaking!

Ordered myself

one to wear this fall! GO HOKIES!!!β€”whatever the sport!!

Ladies

Great pic here and you looked great on TV as well urging you daughters and our Hokies to victory! They showed you all several times!

It’s also an easy excuse

to blame the coach/culture. If you kinda read between the lines of Popsof1’s posts. CMD for sure isn’t for everyone! She coaches hard and expects the players to play hard. Nothing wrong with that. I wonder if it’s not a little β€œPat Summit” like with expectation. If you aren’t willing to do that-you may need or want to find a better fit. If that type of coaching/play causes you anxiety-same. I do think money feeds into it as well. These transfers leave a team with lofty expectations. I heard we offered CB what she wanted but she left anyway. All I know is that both she and Mackie were developed over the last 2 years. That was on CMD’s watch! So there’s that-they will be better players for the teams they are now on because they were developed at VT. Will be interesting to see if the continue on the progression.

lol! Jordan

jumped straight up like a cheerleader when Anni slid in there! Love the excitement!

Might

be a great question for QCP to get him involved on the softball side. (Also, to rescue him from the dregs of baseball stats this year!)

Thank you!

What an insightful post! I’ve met and talked with Carleigh several times at different WBB events. Last year after we played ND, we were both in Kroger early the next morning. I told her how hard I knew she played and how proud of the team everyone in Hokie Nation is. She smiled and thanked me, but looked exhausted. She’d played her heart out!! But-she was still rocking those lashes and nails and looked like a doll! Thank you for sharing this perspective and mostly for sharing Carleigh with us!!

Just pulled up

Live Stats to follow what happened. Would like to see the entire at bats!!😩

This is

one I expected. Loved Kayl-her tenacity especially. So grateful she came here and played for 2 years. I did feel she struggled this year so she needs to find her spot. Met her family one evening in PK’s and they are just awesome as well!!

Great Article

If you are on Twitter, Paul Patera, Sons of Saturday, has an excellent article on VT softball with lots of supportive data. I was hesitant to link an article here since it wasn’t a TSL writer, but will be glad to do so if acceptable. Chip-I know you are on Twitter. Will defer to you. Definitely worth the read!!

Ugh-

We used 2 pitchers. Pitcher #1 allowed 1 hit and 67% of her pitches were strikes. Pitcher#2 closed it out with only 8 pitches to 3 batters. We did not have hits until late in the game but, I am not sure you could say we had β€œissues” when the pitchers were that efficient and we won 12-0. Not trying to be a butt, but just wondering why you think that?

Agree

Texted a friend that I hoped she could give 4 good innings. She did, indeed!! Way to pitch, Avery!!

Live Stats say

Cierra Gawkryluk from Suffolk is the starting pitcher. πŸ™„ ** Edited by J2KHokie at 3/18/2026, 3:58:32 PM

πŸ’―%

Way to go Avery and Addy. The β€œA+” Gals!!!

lol!

I watched that video and the next was of Rachel! Someone in front of you was extremely happy! I was , too tbh!

What

were we predicted to finish? I saw the predictions at the beginning of the season but , of course, have forgotten our predicted finish. Ty!

Taught with

him. His wife is a wonderful lady! As I said in a previous post, I've retired to Blacksburg now so it’s been a while. He’s grown up a lot but his dad was a big UNC fan. We teased each other a lot! I always wondered if those kids would go there.

Sorry

I had the wrong college for Emma-UNC Greensboro. IHer dad and I taught together as well. Great people. Miss them but love living in B’burg!!

Taught

at the middle school there before retiring to Blacksburg. Their softball coach was my teaching partner for a few years. She works hard at it and has a lot of community support. She and her husband are big time Hokies! Another teaching partner's daughter (who is a Hokie) is playing Western Carolina this year. She was the winning pitcher in the state championship for them this past year and is now playing at Middle Tn State. Her dad is a Hokie as well. I taught her and they would have loved for her to have come here. The third pitcher from there signed with Radford in November and was the National Little League Home Run Derby Champ in 2021. Unless it's changed, she doesn't play for the high school. She plays with a travel team. I taught her mother. Would have loved to have had all 3. Great young ladies from wonderful families!

Well-

The women’s basketball β€œNothing But Net” host on ACCN last night called us Vah Tech and then bragged on Sonia Suffren!😩. Ridiculous!!

I just texted a friend

that very thing! She has been very consistent in relieving this weekend! A great thing!!!

That is true but

CMD and staff have developed them. I love watching them play!
