Match thoughts:
125 - Robinson has yet to score a TD on EV in 4 matches. EV wins for a 5th time at ACCs 133 - Seidel is just unbelievable. Can’t wait to see him make a run to the podium at NCAAs 141 - Jack is not wrestling well this season but he handled Crook for the 7th time. Good on Crook, though to keeping it to just a decision 149 - Gaj just keeps getting better and he is an absolute Hammer on top. 2 straight matches he has avenged losses in wins over top10 guys. Huge, dominant win by Gaj over a strong opponent. 157 - Miller understood the assignment 165 - Denny is having a very strong season, so not surprising it was a close loss despite Burtons MD in their early season first match. Burton will learn from this but maybe he’s 174 next season. He’s big. 174 - match MVP ought to go to Sergio. Singleton is no joke and he was 2 seconds of riding time away from forcing SV. Great match by Sergio 184 - I thought Bullock wrestled well in a very critical match. Great ride for the victory. 197 - Sasso will let anyone in on his legs. Not sure what his strategy is. But boy he gritted that out after being down 10-6. Hope he can grow on this one. 285 - Trumble is putting distance on a lot of guys. He’s really tough and likely is in the finals at NCAAs this year. Mullen is still figuring things out at heavyweight.

It was great to see some of our guys riding out their opponents
It was a key difference maker last night.

Once Eddie and Gaj won, it was going to be hard for NC State to pull out a
win. I will say State did better at 184 and 197 than I expected... but, given we were heavy favorites at 157 and favorites to win 184 and 197, the State faithful had to not like their chances after the first 4 matches. If I were State, I would have wanted to start in the middle of the lineup. Glad they started at 125.

I was actually wondering if after Gaj & Miller won if they
might send out Church instead of Burton. Church may lose but we were in control & save Burton’s last match to preserve his redshirt for OK ST or UNC…

I went to the dual last winter at home
against NCS. Could have sworn EV had a takedown against VR in that one. I could be wrong though.

Think you mis-read. Post said VR has yet to get a takedown vs EV
Which is true. Eddie has one in every match vs VR.

Trimble is good but HWT may be the weakest weight this year in NCAA

Trumble is indeed very good. Jimmy hasn’t taken the next step forward
like I thought he would. Mid-late season last year he was on a tear and I thought he would overtake Pitzer and Trumble and never look back. That has certainly not happened. We need better athletes in the SERTC upper weights to push these guys to develop, IMO.

Just my observation, but Trumble looks
stronger, faster, leaner, and more agile. Jimmy is an amazing athlete in his own way, but his muscle tone just isn’t the same. I’m no athletic trainer or dietician, but it just looks to me that he could take the next step with training.
