Can someone explain to a novice...
This board has helped me (a novice female with no wrestling experience) understand some wrestling things before so I'm hoping you all can help again. I've been watching the NCAA matches all week and I don't understand what actually constitutes a pin (fall). Sometimes like with BA, it happens fast, there's no counting, it's just over. And other times a wrestler seems trapped and the referee is counting but the person gets out of it. Why count sometimes?

Both shoulder blades have to be flat on the mat.

A pin occurs when both of the wrestler's shoulders touch the mat

Don’t the shoulders have to be at 45 degrees or less to start the count
