as a whole never really got on the same page mentally ... enough so that it didn't feel like they ever got to experience that momentum to feed off of each others efforts. Offensively, the team stagnated a little bit. As for the NCAAs, I think it's a disappointment as a whole. 5 of the 9 wrestlers scored a point or less for a variety of reasons. And VT gave up 10 bonus points while only earning 1, ironically from Mac Church who struggled to score points this season. Good teams just don't have that kind of ratio. I will never complain about 3 All-Americans given the period of VT wrestling that I came from. Having said that, this team had a ton of expectations and if you ask the coaches and wrestlers, the team likely only achieved 1 goal this season and that was winning the ACC tournament. I'd say overall, this was not a successful season which isn't to say there weren't a number of good things about it.
