Officiating question. Why does Wenzel not "get the call" more often . . .
when she drives to the basket? It seems to me that a LOT of contact goes uncalled when she drives to the hoop. Is it because the refs know that she is purposely trying to draw a foul when driving, and refuse to make that call every time? Or possibly because she appears a little out of control when she "flings" the ball towards the basket?

Is to go up with the shoulder to the basket, rather than face the basket at an angle. The premise is that you are using your shoulder to protect the ball and going up under control. She SHOULD get more calls. She also often has to deal with 2 defenders. Sometimes she is just missing, but other times a teammate doesn;t take a second defender away.
Even the one she made yesterday ..she jumped early and went off one foot. She likely could have gotten one dribble closer but she likely thought the gap she thought was there was closing.
Note that many of her drives are in transition and I think teammates are not ready for it...hence why they don't move out of the way and take a defender with them

rim most of the time. That is where you get your follow through. I know it can be tough but you need to absorb whatever comes your way and finish the play. This is why some players are elite, they do that.
