Don’t be surprised if VT has a generally smaller team next season,
Especially in the back court. Remember, this is no long Brooks’ team and Duffy has a different style. At Marquette, Duffy often played 2 PGs together, and I think Duffy will probably use similar guards at VT. Duffy will want to get our transition and have fast guards driving to the basket, so wouldn’t even shock me if you see Nelson, Suffren, and Wenzel all on the court at the same time.

We already saw the 1-3 PGs playing together. We also saw Duke, NC State,
Iowa and others hurt us around the basket. We still can get out in transition with mobile 4s and 5s. We saw Well, Wenzel, and Nelson together on the court If she wants to move into the upper echelon of the ACC, she needs more size and more interior depth than last year. Last summer, some people looked at the lack of size and minimized it with comments like (a) we will compensate for lack of size/rebounding with outrunning other teams..... The comments ignored that impact on interior defense/potential foul trouble, how that might affect the inability to score inside, and how that might cause players like Ekh and Baker to play inside (potentially leading to fouls and taking away from their offense). We already saw a 3-guard lineup. We also already saw how interior issues, even with Baker and Peterson working hard, affected the offense against Duke's Fornier, NC State's bigs, Iowa's size.... ** Edited by VAHokie89 at 3/30/2025, 10:55:32 AM ** Edited by VAHokie89 at 3/30/2025, 11:10:39 AM

You won't be in the top 2-4 of ACC without good 4's/ 5's,we need good bigs

Well yes, but that doesn’t mean you need someone 6’6”. Many teams in the
Sweet 16 have centers around 6’2” or 6’3”. Ashley Sofilkanich is 6’3” and she would be a great addition. So would Caitlyn Weimar (6’4”). My post was also more talking about the backcourt, but some fans are expecting us to get Clara Silva or someone similar, and that’s prob not gonna happen.

Keep in mind she will be adapting her choice of players to meet ACC play.
It’s a bit different than Big East.

Sure, but I think it still is a similar style. Also a lot of the transfer
Guard targets I’ve seen aren’t exactly big guards. I’m expecting Duffy to add a PG and a SG/wing.

She’ll add guards. But bigs also. I think folks will be surprised how many
portals she takes. She will let the guards fight it out.

Yeah I was talking about guards there, I’m expecting 2 guards and 2 bigs.

That's the reason she's ta Head whistle
Be nice to see some up-tempo games . She came here to win and I say she will.

Agreed. Also, I think Duffy values versatile PFs in the post instead of...
traditional centers. She has mentioned playing fast, pressuring the perimeter on defense and playing "positionless basketball." And yes, even if she adds an experienced Wing transfer (I think she will), Wenzel, Suffren and Nelson will be on the floor together ALOT.
