"All's well that ends well", right? But, on balance, this was not . . .
. . . a positive day. We weren't competitive in the LSU loss. The 'miracle' tonight was necessary because poor play put us in a deep hole against a team we should have run-ruled. There a lot of good softball players on this team but today, collectively, they underperformed. The positive is that they managed to get an opportunity to better showcase their talent tomorrow. Winning two may be a bridge too far but minimally, they need to make the Tigers uncomfortable.

There's a reason coaches use that phrase. I think Jim Valvano used it to describe 1983. While you're not wrong, of course, tomorrow could be a bad day or a good day.
Relax
Have fun
Play your best

. . . from the head guy visiting the circle during the game. Add to that a fist pump or a high-five every now and then.

I use that 3 point encouragement for anyone doing anything.
I add 2 more for the team perspective:
Play for the team
Go for the brass ring
It's like the Hardy-Cross method of solving linear systems; pipe networks, structures, electrical networks, etc.

. . . ownership of what's happening on the field. It's little things that add up. Heck, Pete doesn't take the lineup to home plate at the start of the game. It's your team, your lineup! SHOWING some passion also indicates ownership. I'm just not a fan of the 'solitary man' in a hoodie approach.

I'm confident that this team and coaches knows that there are areas for improvement.
For now, I am going to really, really enjoy the evening.

. . . to the game from very different experiences and perspectives. Yours is almost certainly more enjoyable :)
